Architectural Perspective Drawings

I became became closer to the understanding of depth through recreation of functional rooms found in design magazines. I grasped the areas of depth in both on and two point perspective. Along with these perspectives, I also learned isometric view drawings to understand how a structure looks from an the exterior walls to the interior of each room.

Interior Design Art Exhibition

As a sophomore in the Interior Design program at Fort Hays State University, three students and myself hosted an interactive Interior Design Exhibition. For my space, I chose to do a dining room with the inspiration behind the board game Clue. Using certain "clues" hinting towards the theme, I chose to add clothing garments describing the characters. I also scattered murder weapons around the room to have the viewer continue a gaze over all parts of the atmosphere. The focal point being the dining room table & chairs was dramatically emphasized with greenery to push the white dinner plates and glass drinking ware.

Going with a whimsical yet elegant look, I chose white porcelain plates lined with gold, gold silverware, and clear glassware. All of these items with upcycles to reduce waste.

Dining Room Centerpiece

The centerpiece was the determined focal point. The candles within the overgrown greenery gave a whimsical aspect. The large flower-filled vase pushed the viewers eyes upwards to the hanging artwork at the back of the space.

Custom Painted 1926 Piano

I chose to repaint this piano olive green to give more depth to the plants planted on top as well as on the dining room table. Keeping the "murder" weapons on top give the theatrical feeling while all seriousness.

Residential & Commercial Designs

Throughout my time in the Interior Design program, I was able to experience the difficulties and realities of design. Shaping the way I create a design today, I was able to take details and create a fully functional set of plans. The designs at hand were created with both residential and commercial opportunities. Keeping in mind all ADA requirements and design skills, I was able to redefine spaces.

Chicago Family Physician Clinic

The guidelines to this project were vague but gave a world of possibilities. I chose to design a functioning space with the theme of modern nature. Larger urban businesses get strayed away from nature as they tend to be surrounded with skyscrapers and pollution. I chose a light color pallete and incorporated greenery throughout.

Golden Hour Thrift Store

Inspiration and Reason?

In the spring of 2021, I was able use my 4 years of interior design knowledge to end my course by creating my very own business. Golden Hour Thrift was created on the basis of bringing a Midwestern flare to a large city thrift store. From the floor plans to the furniture placements, this area is completed all by  myself over a 12 week time frame.

Location

Choosing a populated location was one of the reasons I decided on Las Vegas, NV. An area with a pride n glamour and fashion, yet still has the "foot traffic" of tourism.

The overall objective of the project was to produce a functional design that consists of two spaces; one being the main focus, while the other is an additional income provider. Golden Hour Thrifts' second spaces consists of a "Recycle Friendly Buy-Back area" for vintage/ unwanted clothing.

Golden Hour Buy-Back Center

From the natural themed walls to the tiger-print rugs, the eclectic theme proves that different is good, especially when given a new home.,

After many weeks of designing and preparation, I was able to present my project to other Interior Design students as well as faculty and staff in the Art department.

Victorian Kitchen

I chose to design this whole space with a modern twist to the victorin style. As you see, keeping faced inward, the primary workspace is centered in the middle of the room. I made sure to double all work space sizes to coexist with the idea of a larger family.

Miscellaneous Designs

Country Home Kitchen

With the idea to modernize my childhood home, I was able to take dimensions and create a more urban midwestern kitchen. I incorporated small valuable details such as the image of my siblings on the wall to the flowers on the table.
